And thereafter a few families settled in the areas we now call Citrus Heights, Orangevale, Carmichael, and Fair Oaks. The Van Marens, Barretts, Kellys, Muldrows, Heintzes, McMillans, Donahues, Coyles, Deweys, and John Vincent families established farms well before Fair Oaks was in the planning stage.
